Online Documentary Film Screening and Talk Event

Our senior lecturer Mingqing Yuan will organize a documentary film screening and talk event for her “China in Africa” course. The film is about the Chinese in South Africa. It will take place online on Wednesday 11th, from 12:15-13:45 (CET). External participants are also welcome.

The profile of the speaker is as follows:

Mr. Hai SHI is a community leader in South Africa. With a background in Engineering, he migrated to South Africa in 1992 and first worked as an electronic engineer for Sasol Technologies. In 1998, he started his own business. He is currently the president of Shanghai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in South Africa and oversea delegate of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. He also ran for Member of Parliament in South Africa. Mr. Shi has participated in many cultural exchange projects between Africa and China and established close relationships with many African research institutions and think tanks, such as the China-Africa Institute and the Center for African Studies at Peking University. Mr. Shi has published articles about China-Africa cooperation widely.
