Online Platforms for Organizing your Studies

Starting university courses and managing studies can be challenging for any new student. That’s why the FAU created the following online platforms to help you create your own study plan, check your records, examinations etc..
Please check out the following Online Platforms and know their functions to help with organizing your studies.

UnivIS

UnivIS, short for University Information System, is FAU’s central information system. Via UnivIS, you have access to the electronic course catalog and can compile a list of the classes you are taking.

UnivIS also contains a directory of all people and institutions at FAU, a publication database and information on current job offers. Via the integrated search function, you can locate all rooms at FAU and get the contact details of staff and lecturers.

More information on UnivIS is available at www.univis.fau.de.

StudOn

StudOn is FAU platform for online learning and course management. Students can register for courses via StudOn and access or store seminar handouts, reading lists and general information.

StudOn also allows direct exchange between students and lecturers in forums, chats and Wikis. StudOn is also used for online examinations. Students can log on with their University user account.

More information is available at www.studon.fau.de (German).

IdM

IdM, short for ‘Identity Management’, is the central user management system at FAU, and the IdM portal is the first point of contact for managing your ‘digital identity’. You IdM user account is used to access various web services at FAU, such as StudOn, mein campus and campo.

Logging on to the IdM portal allows you to view your own user data and information about your degree program.

First semester students have to activate their user ID – which is on the information sheet from the Student Records Office and on your student ID card – via the URL provided.

More information is available at www.idm.fau.de.

mein campus

The online administration portal ‘mein campus’ is the virtual counterpart to the Student Records Office and the Examinations Office.

It includes functions for student, examination and class administration. It enables you to manage your personal account details, register for examinations and obtain an overview of your grades.

You can also print out your official documents and certificate of enrollment via mein campus.

More information is available at www.campus.fau.de (German).

Webmail

At FAU each student receives their own e-mail address. You can use it after activating your student user ID in IdM.

You can access this mailbox (‘Faumail’) using webmail at or by using an e-mail program such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

If you do not want to actively use this address, you can also change the settings to have your e-mails forwarded to another address at the given URL.

Find the webmail-client at faumail.fau.de.

OPACplus

OPACplus provides online access to the FAU library catalog.

It allows you to search the entire University Library and all branch libraries. Apart from books and printed journals, you can also access electronic journals and literature databases.

It is possible to view the full texts of many journal articles online in this way. Via OPACplus, you can also use the inter-library loan services for literature which is not available at FAU and the document delivery service FAUdok.

More information is available at www.ub.fau.de/en/.

FAUbox lets you share multiple folders over all your desktop and mobile devices and therefore is one easy way to sync, share and backup files.
